Description: Height - 4' 10" Weight - 89 lbs Age - 144

Valas is a comely well built drow.  The body under his robes is well toned and physically fit, unusual for a wizard, but a necessity for one in his position.  He is a beautiful man (+20 APP) but one side of his face is horribly scarred and is covered with a mask. Valas has all the features of a typical drow.  Crimson eyes, long luxurious white hair, and supple dark gray skin.  He face seems permanently set in a scowl and with the addition of the mask, has a very imitating and mysterious appearance.
Valas does not adventure often.  He wears costly robes and other majestic apparel.  While he does not wear whatever is in fashion, his clothes do reflect his rank well as an apprentice to one if the city’s conclave members.  Often to appease his mother, purple is the color he chooses.
Valas is no fighter.  Magic is his life.  He carries an assortment of pouches, some cleverly hidden, to store as many components as he possibly can.  He is never defenseless or without a spell handy.  

Brief History: Valas is oddly trapped in a vicious circle in a city that is granted a lot of freedom.  Born and raised in Sshamath where wizards are renowned and rule the city, Valas was the first son born to the city’s last Matron Mother dedicated to Lolth’s worship.
So how is he kept in line if wizards have power over priests: His uncle. Guldor like the rest of the city’s conclave members seeks to keep politics running and maintain alliances. His family is the oldest in the city and despite its religious background it still has a powerful rich history.  To quiet his raging nephew Guldor has made Valas his successor, a position which Valas holds tightly with no competition.
It was not pity for Valas’ maimed body that made Guldor give the position to the hateful young man, but his power and intelligence.  Valas has thwarted his mother at every turn and kept her from Conclave business. Though one mistake caused Valas half his face and body.  No one but Lesaonar knows what really happened, but Valas was caught striking the eldest and favored daughter in the open.  Mother Laele was nearby and put an abrupt and vicious stop to it. Valas was beaten, raped, and marked by Lolth. His flesh eaten away by acid in the public view of everyone in the house; with the words “I am the last woman you shall ever have,” uttered by his mother burned into his mind, Valas was beaten but not broken.
He is well known for his plots, manipulations, and always covering his tracks.  Most women will now avoid him as it is well known he will torture any of them and servants are replaced daily to feed his rage.  It is whispered that Dhaunae is his daughter by his mother.  There are many speculations that Valas did have a hand in selling the favored sister to a demon and many wild tales of his cruelty has spread far and wide throughout the city and no one dares to try and find out the truth.


Personality and character interaction: Valas is summed up as vicious and cruel.  He is always seen scowling and his voice is always hard and snide.  He is never pleasant even when formal and any who interact with him either feel inferior or annoyed at his sourness and negativity.  He spreads hate and distrust in many that he meets.  His family tolerates him, but his sisters give him wide berth except Xull’rae.  She is the only one that fights his dark mood with humor and teasing banter.  Valas is confounded by her and she is often caught in the middle between mother and son.  But unlike his other favored sister and siblings Valas has never laid a hand on Xull’rae and she still remains in the seat of Successor to House Zauviir.
Others, for the good of their health keep a safe distance away.  Lesaonar is the only person who still remains close to him.  He is very self serving and cares not who he has to hurt to get what he wants.

Valas in a Group: This would never be possible unless Lesaonar or Xull’rae is already in the group and even then something has to pique his interest.
Even so, if a group can withstand his spiteful attitude and his superiority complex they will find Valas’ vast array of spells frightening but quite useful. He is a very powerful and talented wizard and his lore knowledge is outstanding, but do expect all skills to come at a costly price.

Valas at Current: Nothing really changes from day to day with Valas; he is mainly trying to uncover Xull’rae’s secrets and overthrow his mother.
