MAJOR UPDATE:
I HAVE A TOTAL OF 32 ENTRIES NOW!! THIS MEANS THAT ACCORDING TO MY PRIZES AND RULES THAT I HAVE THE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF ENTRIES NEEDED FOR THE $150 FIRST PRIZE, $100 SECOND PRIZE AND $50 THIRD PRIZE!

The final tallies have arrived and my judges are exhausted Thank you, you four were great and very prompt and helpful! A special thanks to my lover and ogre, Mike who will be paying for the second and third place winners. He also has agreed to pay out a consolation prize because there was a deadlock tie between the 3rd and 4th contestant. How I broke the tie was simple, They had 3 of the 5 votes each and I took the contestant who had the highest placement.
i.e. 1 vote was for 3rd, 2 votes were for second place for 1 contestant while the second contestant got 1 vote for second and two for 3rd.
I hope you can understand that ruling.

Anyway enough stalling. Winners please look at the prize list and choose what you want. Remember it will be paypal in United States currency and shipping applies to your prize if it won't be straight cash. Please send me (not Mike) notes on what what you want. 1st prize: Base Prize: A $70 cash prize
ALTERNATIVE: Something that equals the cash prize where paypal is a method of payment and has low or no shipping costs. Winner can discuss the alternative by note.
IF I GET LESS THAN 7 ENTRIES: This will be lowered to $50
IF I GET MORE THAN 25 ENTRIES: This will be upped to $150

2nd prize: Base Prize: A year's subscription to DA or a print account plus a $20 (or $25 dollar print if you chose a prints account) from another artist of your choice.
ALTERNATIVE: If you already have a DA subscribed account or a prints account and do not want a print, please note me on what you want to do with your $50 prize.
IF I GET LESS THAN 7 ENTRIES: This will be lowered to $30
IF I GET MORE THAN 25 ENTRIES: This will be upped to $100

3rd prize Base Prize: A 3 month subscription to DA plus a $20 print from another artist of your choice.
ALTERNATIVE: If you do not want this, please note me on what you would like to do with your $30 prize
IF I GET LESS THAN 7 ENTRIES: This will be lowered to $15
IF I GET MORE THAN 25 ENTRIES: This will be upped to $50

A winner may choose just a straight up cash prize if they have paypal just remember that if you choose this option it will be in United States currency so an alternitive prize might be better instead!

Prizes will be awarded when the winners are announced and the winners get back to me with what they want (and is agreed upon) and the info I require to get your prize to you. MAKE SURE THAT IF YOU PICK AN ALTERNATIVE PRIZE THAT IS NOT STRAIGHT UP CASH, THAT IT CAN STILL BE BOUGHT THROUGH PAYPAL AND THAT IT IS A REASONABLE REQUEST!
Shipping charges if they are like 5 bucks, I'll pay myself but if they are over $10 or more, it'll be deducted from your prize amount. So calculate CAREFULLY what you want me to buy. Despite my generous prizes, I'm NOT rich, I don't want to pay EXTRA on top of the prize money.
This is why I prefer contestants have paypal, no mess, no fuss!

EXTRA ART/WIP's

This section is dedicated to those who made extra entries, or wanted their WIP's showcased. So here we go!


This stands out but I just like the black for the more drow like feel you can see the black one above in the entry section.

Wanted to join my contest and made this as an entry, when she realized she couldn't be in it I gave her a 3 month subscription to make up for it. Very cute and punk! I have since changed my mind and have let others enter and therefore will let this artist submit another piece for the contest.




Worked her little heart out before coming up with the sweet entry in great color. Just look at this before you really look at the final result.

RULES
1. Must be a member on DA.
2. Must meet the deadline of August 26, 2006
3. Only ONE PICTURE per person is allowed as an entry in the contest. You may draw all 7 and submit them, but only one of your pictures will be chosen by me as your main entry. Submitting multiples will not increase your chances of winning!
3. Anyone on DA may enter this contest but there will only be 3 winners who get prizes!
4. There will be three rounds of judging
--First round will be to choose 7 finalist (one for each each aspect of Xull'rae) If there isn't enough aspects of her done, then the judges and I will choose from the most popular aspects and go to the next round of judging.
--The semi Finalist round will consist of 4 entries from the 7 finalist.
The final round is where we agree on the 3 contest winners.
I'm expecting at least a month of judging time with 3 different aspects of Xull'rae as winners so this will take some fair deliberation. I will also lower the prize amounts if not enough people will participate! Or up it if I get more than 25 art entries. PLEASE NOTE: that the prize amounts will be determined by the actual amount of entries I receive!
Just because you said you'd like to be a contestant, doesn't mean you'll give me art by the deadline. This is why the prize amounts will be based on the art I recieve.
5. No talking to my judges about the contest! This also means no seeking their approval, getting tips, or asking questions about the contest. All questions should be sent to me and me only!
6. Winners should be paypal users if they pick a cash prize. I will not be sending checks or money orders, especially to other countries! Also note if you pick a cash prize it will be UNITED STATES currency, so it might be less for some countries. I cannot afford to deal with penalties, so you may choose the alternative prizes so you don't feel cheated!
7. Take your time, have fun, but don't cheat. Anyone caught cheating or breaking these rules will be removed from the contest and reported to DA as necessary. Send me a note concerning any questions or to submit your entry.

I didn't think it needed to be said, but contestants should be original in their design of Xull'rae. Her description is basic. To put it in the simplist terms I can: Xull'rae is the model. With this model, you can create poses, expressions, hairstyles and outfits that can reflect a sliver of her personality that would go hand in hand with the aspect you are trying to draw. It is not my job to tell you what she would wear or how she acts, nor should I have to explain what I want in a piece. This is a contest. Participants who don't know the character HAVE 3 MONTHS to research Xull'rae Zauviir. You have everything you need. My references are in my favorites, insights to her are in my gallery itself and any other tidbits can be found on my site that is on my front page of DA, you have to dig a little but that is the point to RESEARCH. My watchers are at tiny advantage, but non watchers have enough time to play catch up IF THEY READ!

EDIT For some this was unclear, so hopefully this can be clarified better now. If I get more than 25 contestants with actual ART ENTRIES, I will up the prizes!
You may say you're a contestant all you want, but without an art submission by the deadline..you technically didn't participate...ESPECIALLY if you signed up and then I hear nothing from you through the entire 3 months. I'm not going to waste money on a few entries. This is why the prizes are not set in stone yet. I have a Base prize, I have a lowered prize if I get less art than expected for the number of contestants. I have an upped prize if I actually get 25 art pieces. This is why the $150 is better than $50 and $70. It will be worth my time and yours! For you, it's the knowledge you beat out such a heavy competition and recieved such a nice prize for your effort. For me, it's money well spent on an awesome picture.
If you're still with me and want to participate, do nothing! (except draw an art entry... )
If you want to drop out, just contact me at any time DURING the contest!

REMEMBER: 2nd and 3rd places get money or prizes too!

You will be judging based on:
--Effort NOT skill. (this can be juged by looking at the entry and then viewing the participants gallery)
There are many artist who have great skill compared to others. The contestant does not have to draw well, BUT it should reflect their best work for the amount of time this contest runs, ESPECIALLY for the prizes involved.

--Design. Does the outfit go with the aspect and does it reflect Xull'rae's personality?

--Orginality. With an aspect comes expectation yet personal artistic flares. Does the picture flow together? Does Xull'rae look and feel like she is ready for an adventure, a party, a ritual, a heist, ect.

PRIZES
Prizes are based on the number of art entries I actually receive (i.e. Less than 7 will LOWER the base prize, more than 7 will BE the base prize, and more than 25 entries will UP the base prize)
Finalist and semi finalist not chosen as winners should be aware that nothing should be expected as a reward. You entered this contest for fun and did your best to win and when I can afford to, I will personally commission you in the future.
